Qualifications:
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at San Jose State University is currently seeking an expert with industry experience in the area of healthcare and hospital IT. Experience in a wide range of healthcare IT systems technology applications and experience working in (or with) vendors and providers within the nation’s hospital and healthcare delivery system will be a plus. A Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or related discipline is required for appointment. Applicants should have awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience.
Responsibilities:
The Pinson Chair position is a one-year appointment used to enhance strategic development areas within engineering. Responsibilities are in the areas healthcare IT and include (but not necessarily limited to) teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, supervising student projects, and collaborating with regular engineering faculty in curriculum development and research. The appointment is renewable for one additional year subject to budget, enrollment and satisfactory performance. Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.
Department:
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering offers Bachelors and Masters degrees in ISE and Human Factors/Ergonomics. The BS Industrial & Systems Engineering degree is accredited by ABET and is ranked by U.S. World News as number three in the nation among public universities not offering Ph.D. programs.
Salary Range:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
